Rotenberger Schlossberg

Our vines on the ‘Württemberg’ grow in the shadow of the beautiful Grabkapelle (Sepulchral Chapel), which King Wilhelm ordered built in memory of his beloved wife Katharina. A daughter of the Russian czars who died young, she was much loved in Stuttgart for her dedication to social causes. The mausoleum has long stood as an emblem of our entire region and, here on the site of the original Wirtenburg fortress, represents a true seat of power.  Perhaps the soil feels that strength as well, as the potent marl soils bring us fresh, elegant and dynamic Lemberger and Spätburgunder fruit for our “Simonroth” wines.
